The Recipe Packaging transformed Philadelphia cream cheese packaging into a promotional platform for small restaurants facing rising costs and limited marketing resources.
By featuring real restaurant names and recipes directly on product packs, the campaign turned an everyday, often invisible ingredient into visible advertising.
Expanded through regional cookbooks, social challenges, and direct support for reopening restaurants, the project blended brand marketing with tangible community impact.
Design Insight
Cream cheese is an invisible ingredient—its quality often goes unnoticed by diners.
At the same time, small restaurants play a vital role in local food culture but lack the systems needed to make their stories visible.
The challenge wasn’t awareness, but how to design visibility into an everyday product.
Design Execution
Design Results
Philadelphia packaging was redesigned to feature the names and signature recipes of real restaurants using the product.
Each pack functioned as a communication surface, turning packaging into a platform that amplified restaurant identities at the point of purchase.
This system expanded beyond packaging into cookbooks, social participation, and community support—allowing visibility to scale across physical and digital touchpoints.
Packaging shifted from a passive container to an active promotional tool.
Small restaurants gained exposure without additional effort, while Philadelphia became part of an ecosystem that connects product, people, and place.
